I found a Vortec 327 out of a wrecked 99 Chevy for a REALLY good price, and I'm giving some serious thoughts to swapping it into my Scout. My question is, what kind of difficulty will I run into in doing the swap, as far as wiring and stuff like that goes? As computerized as the new trucks are, how much of a pain in the @ss is it gonna be to get all this stuff wired up and actually running? Thanks in advance!

I think you mean Vortec 325" ;) The old 327 uses a totally different block, bore, and stroke. 327 = 4" bore & 3.25" stroke. Vortec 5300 (~325") uses just a hair under 3.8" bore & 3.62" stroke.
Anyhow, the nice thing about the REALLY new engines is that you just unplug a couple spots & the engine lifts out with all its electronics attached. I think the only thing that might make the swap more difficult than an earlier injected engine swap would be the tranny controlls being integral. I'm sure it's been addressed in the expensive swap kits (and I'm pretty sure AA has some new Vortec swap parts), but I don't know how much trouble it'd be "going it alone". Sounds like a nice swap though.
