should 5.5" of lift be enough to clear 32's on my '99 XJ?

I saw a 6" lift clear 33's on a 94.

Yes, it should be just about ideal. I've got a buddy who runs the RE 5.5 and 32x11.5s on his XJ, and it does pretty well. He trimmed his fenders just a bit, but not much.

If yer gonna flex at all with it..you WILL need to trim fenders....but yes.....that lift will be enough....

Pretty much anything on an XJ over 31" will need trimmin...unless yer gonna only run it in the mall...

I am running 33x10.50 with a 4.5 and some fender trimming. I am also running stock wheels. I think the narrow wheels and tires cause less of a rubbing problem. Mine rub more on the LCA in the front than anywhrere else.

FYI....if you go with 33's on an XJ.....you WILL have to relocate yer front brake lines to keep the tires from rippin them off when you flex....
