OK, I'm a Toy guy, but I just picked up a '78 F-150 4x4 for my little bro, his first truck :D

What is the wheel bolt pattern on these things? I've got some black rock crawlers from my Toyota that are 6 on 5.5. Will these bolt up?

Looks like it's got a 9" rear. Engine is a 351-M. C-6 tranny I'd guess? It also has some bald 235s. I'm hoping the wheels and 33" BFG Muds I've got on my Toy now will bolt up. I haven't checked out the gear ratios yet, but with the 235s, the engine is screamin' at 60 MPH!

This truck was recently retired from the US Forest Service. It's really clean except for the faded lt. green paint and torn seat upholstery. Engine is recently rebuilt. Seems like it will be a good basic truck for him to build on for many years.

Any info. you guys can shed on late 70's F-150s would be great. Thanks! :D

your yota wheels won't work the F150 uses a 5 on 5.5" pattern...same as dodge and some jeeps

if it's a manual then yea it's got a c-6, also a NP205 unless it has full time 4wd then it uses a 203 :barf:

Thanks for the info FordPowr.

I'll have to crawl under there and see what kind of X-Fer it has. Its got Warn manual hubs but I haven't bothered to look at the x-fer shifter to see if it has a 2-Hi position.

203s are cast iron and 205s have an aluminum rear housing, is that correct?

I think htey may both have a aluminum rear output housing...not sure though. Either wya htere will be a little medal tag on the back of the T-case, scape it off and it'll tell ya

You probly already crawled under there, but if you haven't, you can tell the Tcase by one of two ways: Tcase shifter handle will have a (front to back)4lo - N - 2hi - 4hi for a 205, and 4lo-loc - 4lo - N - 4hi - 4hi-loc for the 203. Also, most guys won't bother putting manual hubs on a fulltime case, so if it has the caps on the front axle, then it'll have the fulltime case

Also, I think fordpwr got a little confused, but if it's an automatic, then it the C6 - instead of it being a manual, which he said
