I would like to get an opinion poll going on the Tomken 5 - 6" lift.

Anyone running this lift currently? What do you guys think?

Also, does anyone know if this is the same lift as the "RE Extreme Duty 5.5 lift"? I have been looking for information on this lift for EVER! I can not find ANY data on the web!! ANYWHERE! It is driving my batty, everyone says that the RE lift is the way to go but I can not find any data on it! Not even a price!

Any help here would be great!

Thanks,

Chris

I didn't think the Extreme Duty 5.5 was for out for the Cherokee? I thought this was their long arm TJ kit. The only 5.5 inch kit from RE I know of is the 4.5 inch kit with 1" spring spacers.

I've run my RE 4.5 inch kit for quite a while now and its held up. Jonny Joints are great. I rebuild them once a year or so to keep the rattles down.

The old style track bar and mount suck! I went thru 3 hiem joints in the first year, went to the larger size and then the hole in the trackbar mount hogged out.

I got the full leaf packs in the rear. They are tough, and carry lots of weight -but are stiff and lack flex. This was 3 years ago, so they might have changed designs or suppliers since.

I run, basically, a modified 5.5" Xtreme Duty RE kit (long before RE knew what Extreme Duty would be) I have RE 4.5" ZJ coils and RE 1462 leaf packs.

Rides great, flexes like mad and works for my needs.

Tomken.com is where you should look for the specs on that lift

I have the tomken control arms and they are a hell of alot better then any i have seen (bigger, heavyer, tougher) and they flex fine

Did you have any trouble installing the rear springs to the shackle? I installed mine yesterday and the shackle is pulled all the way forward jst sitting there as if in full droop. Not sure if this is correct...

Also, to add to Tiffs list, give Dirk a holler at www.dpgoffroad.com for RE stuff. Its where I go, and he's great to work with. Great guy, great service, great prices.

that is pretty normal. had the same thing with mine. just wedged an aluminum bat in there and pried down. once the leafs settle down a little your shackle will settle back some.

cheers,

I've heard some bad things about tomken, but their getting better, but i do know that RE makes an awesome lift and you should check out the 5.5" lift. Seems like it works great.

the RE 5.5 lift is the way to go. I think the biggest reason its better than the tomken is becouse it comes with 4" drop brackets
wich make your control arms at allmost stock angle, wich will give
you way more flex and a better ride.

Tomkens 6" lifts now come full 6" leaf packs and coils. No spacers anymore.

I like that.....easier to get to 8" down the road.

Thanks for the feedback on the shackles guys..
