I was at my semi-local junkyard today looking at a 1977 c20 (I think it was a c20)
The rear was a 14 bolt, and the front had 10 bolts and looked like a dana, but I forgot to look and see if it was a 44 or a 60....Actually, I forgot where on the housing to look....anyways
Any of you guys know what it is?

All C20s have IFS. :D
'77 K20 would have either a 44 (probably) or a 10 bolt.

If its round with two ears on the bottom its a 10 bolt. A44 will be identified on the web lower right corner if you are looking at it from the front. They are of equal strength in my opinion.

well, I'm positive its a dana axle...the guy who owns the junkyard wasn't sure what kind of truck it was, but we did find an id card in the glove (wasn't attatched, just there) the axle code was gt5, and it said it originally had a 400ci engine too....it has a plow also. He wanted 200 a piece for the front and the rear, obviously too high for the 14 bolt, and too high for a 44....

Youd think a guy who owns a junkyard should be able to tell what axles are what just by feel, especially a d44 but damn ive been to some junkyards that have people working there that dont know squat.
This isnt meant to knock anyone, but damn ive noticed this a lot.

yeah...I thought that that was wierd too....here's a guy who owns 100's of cars, and advertises as a parts dealer, and can't tell the difference between a 60 and a 44.....
oh well, I'm going back now that I know how to ID it myself....
