: What 6 lug rear (stock or converted) to match narrowed 6 lug 60 front?

So assuming I do the conversion discussed in another thread here about making the front 60 fit 6 lug wheels, what would be a good rear to compliment it that would work with the same wheels?

I see people lookin', but nobody's talkin' :p

D60 with 35 spline semi-float moser or ducthman shafts.

I replied to the "other" coversion post regarding this.,

the 14bolt rear FF hubs are the best for this conversion since
their OD is only 4.25" and all they need to be is 4.00 Not alot
of material to remove..... Easy to do on a small lathe..

So a 14 bolt would be the best choice I guess.... hmmm....

i like the 14bolt option because you'll stay ff. plus spares will be easy to find (not that you'll need them with a 14bolt but...). while you've got it apart give it a shave job like the lakerat did with the 14 he posted a while back.

So any clue if I can round up a 63" to 65" wide 14 bolt somewhere so I would not have to cut one down?

there was 4sale here last week:) 63" wide, they are from cab/chassis rigs. I asked about 6lug stuff and I guess the brakes need messed with too. do a serch in general under my name, you will find all the info on 14 bolt 8 to 6 lug conversions, to much $$$ to me. stay 8 lug for the $$$ and trouble.

yes the cab & chassis dually rear 14bolts are only like 62-63" wide. that is what i run and i just narrowed my front 60 to match. :smokin:

The Dodge 60 front I have is 67" now, so taking 3" off the long side gets me 64" and abe to bolt it under my Toy without having to re-fab all the spring hangers AGAIN..

Kinda ironic Dave - those are the shafts you use to convert the Eaton to use a 14bolt locker :D

Here's an inexpensive option for ya:

Make a hybrid out of a dana 60 and a rear out of an IFS toy.
If you break those 30 spliners, then have Dutchman or Moser make you some axles which match the toys exactly except they don't narrow down to 30 spline...they stay thick and are 35 spline.

Disadvantage...only 58" WTW (can be taken care of with spacers from adapter-store for about $50 each)

Disadvantage...(for some people) 30 spline toy axles...this can be taken care of with custom 35 spline shafts.

Advantage...fairly inexpensive, brakes are already taken care of and to quote DRM from a few months ago..."the stock 12" toy brakes work fine". :p

Tankota - if it were not for the width issue, I would consider such a hybrid rear axle. But using spacers to get from 58.5" to 64" does not sound all that safe to me ;)

What about a combination of spacers & wheel backspacing? 5" BS up front with 3.5" rear will net 3", then 1" spacers on each side & you're within 1/2" of your front width.:smokin:

I have never been real keen on running different wheel spacings front to rear.. kinda screws up rotating the tires, you know? :p
