I have a friend with a '97 TJ and he's been telling me how he's lifting it as soon as he orders a lift kit. That's fine, but then he told me $1,400, which sounds way steep to me. I think it's a Skyjacker kit but I'm not sure. His basic goal is to fit 33's and get some decent flex, but $1,400 seems like a lot for that. Anyway, whatta you think? Thx.

If you want cheap, spring over a YJ.

TJ lifts are spendy. I don't personally care for the skyjacker, but thats just my .02.

If you really want tips for budget bolt on TJ lifts, try the JU Wrangler forum (http://forums.jeepsunlimited.com/cgi-bin/ju/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&number=29&SUBMIT=Go) which is full of advice for stuff like this.

I got my teraflex 4" for about $900 without shocks then I added the rancho rs9000 and the price went up to about $1100 or so and then when you go 4" up you should change the rear driveline so you don't get vibration. That I went with a RE slip yoke eliminator and the RE telescopeing driveline. In all it was about $1300 to $1400 for everything without labor, but it easy to do yourself.

No doubt, TJ's aren't cheap to lift, if you want a good one. You could spend $500 on a kit that only gives you coils, shocks, and few other odds n ends, but you'll run into problems. My RE kit was $1,600 , but I think it's worth it...

I love my TJ, but I'm kinda nostalgic for my 95 YJ and the simplicity of the leaves...Too much junk goin' on with TJ's that can get tweaked/bent/need rebuilt...
I had a Lockright in the back of the YJ. Why didn't I just lock the front and be done with it? ...Now I got the monthly payments and a "to buy" list about 3 feet long. I'm gonna have almost 30 G's in a friggin' Jeep by the time I'm done. I shoulda just bought a new truck to pull my YJ around with *smacking forehead*...Stupid, stupid, stupid....

Oh yeah...I want my square headlights back. I for one liked them. The TJ's look kinda cute....Bummer. Oops for me, too late

If you get the single flex sky jacker 4' kit it will run 1,300 to 1,400 but from there you can go to the double flex kit!!!!
thanks chris!
