Please:D.......Here's the specs and story. Stock Toyota pump, orbital valve of unknown origin, 2x8 ram, afco cooler, stock toy reservoir, and another homemade reservoir that holds probably 3+ quarts. L + R on the valve-3/8 lines-to the ram. Stock toy reservoir is mounted highest. Stock hose down to the pump. 3/8 line from the pump to the IN side of the orbital valve. 3/4 line OUT of the orbital into the top of the homemade reservoir. 1/2 line 3' long out of the bottom of the reservoir to the cooler. 3/8 line from the cooler back up to the stock reservoir.

Originally, in place of the homemade res. I had Stations filter setup in there. The first time I filled and bled the system I used reg. PS fluid. It didn't bleed very well. Drained it out and picked up some synethic fluid and it bled great. Everything worked perfect except the filter leaked, no matter how tight it was. This setup is just under 2 turns lock-lock. Here's a picture showing where the filter was.

So I took out the filter and fabbed up a reservoir to fit in the same spot. I took the F-M 3/4 fitting and welded it near the top of one side. Then took the 90* M-F, 3/4-1/2 fitting and welded it into the bottom of the res. Here you can see the 3/4 line coming in the top of the left side and the 1/2 line coming directly out of the bottom. http://pics.montypics.com/tachnem/2003-05-15/1053033258_hydro2.jpg

I got some more synethic fluid, hooked up the 1/2 line on the bottom and pulled the 3/4 line out of the valve. Poured in the fluid through the 3/4 line then plugged it back into the valve. I started it up and had to fill up the small toy res. after some got sucked down. About one tank worth. Ran it for a while, had the front jacked and bled it. Ran it for about 3 minutes, shut it down and a whole bunch came spewing out of the toy reservoir. WTF? I did a couple times. No matter how long I drive it, as soon as I shut it down it comes spewing out the top of the toy res. So I had a great idea to tape a 4' piece of pipe to the top of the reservoir, let it run for a while and see if it would bleed through that since it would be able to overflow but stay in the system. It would come up 4' high when I shut it down and then slowly go back down. I did that about 3 times and didn't get anywhere. There must be air trapped in the system right? I didn't put a fill cap on top of the big reservoir because I thought it would bleed itself once I ran it. The inlet fitting is about 3" from the top of the res. Do I need a fill cap on it? Or a bleeder? Just to throw it out there, my cooler is pretty far away, but it worked fine when just the filter was in place. http://pics.montypics.com/tachnem/2003-05-15/1053033102_hydro1.jpg I'm thinking it has to be the reservoir I made since everything worked fine with leaky filter. Any ideas? Sorry this is so long but I just wanted to get all the info out there.

Hey dude!

I think your problem is the return line to the tank you built. On the one I made, I have the return line going into the tank below the fluid level, yours looks way above it....and that would probably be a difference between the old one and the new one you made....what do you think?

Just a guess, but it sounds like there is no way for your homebuilt resevoir to bleed itself. The return is coming out the bottom so air is trapped in the top of it.

Yeah do you have a vent in it?

No there is no vent. I thought air would bleed through the system. What would be the best way to vent it?

Yeah I would definately vent it. I welded a male #6 JIC fitting in the top of my tank....

Hold it upside down so the return line is at the top and bleed the whole system. Or add a fill cap to the top of it and fill it up. Best would be to go with a single large reservoir rather than trying to make the two work together.

Damn, that's a good idea about turning it upside. Didn't think of that. I don't think my lines are long enough, though. Guess I'll be adding a vent to the top. Thanks guys.

You should have called me about the filter... It should not have leaked like that. I would have rplaced it for free if it is the filter heads fault. Either way you should to be running a filter in your system. I have one I can sedn you believe if it was the fault of the filter.

DON'T VENT IT!!! Not going to work with a 2 res. system.

I agree that if you continue to use this res. that you need to add a filler to it.

The rig looks BAAAD!! I love the look of it.

That thing looks so mean it's insane. I only hope that I pull off a look on my buggy that is as intimidating as the look of yours.

The fenders look espescially sweet!

Thanks a lot for the compliments!! I wasn't worried about the filter and I definitely wasn't trying to call you out here, so don't think that. The main reason for running it was for the added capacity. Is a filter that important in a closed system like this?

Also, by vent, I did not mean a full time vent, just a vent that I could crack open while the air bled out of the top of the reservoir, and then close it.

Station, why can't he vent it?

Also, the only reason for running 2 reservoirs is because I don't have enough room under that cramped hood to fit a decent size reservoir above the pump.

I think Station thought I was talking about a full-time vent. Not one that I would open and close, just to bleed.
