Anyone bought a 16 and wish they got a 18?
Just wondering, the 18 seems to be about 200$ more

I used to borrow a 16 footer and I bought an 18 footer recently and am much happier with it. The extra room is good for storage, hauling pallets for the campfire, stuff like that. :D

i have a 16 ft trailer and it is plenty unless you are towing lwb rigs. my rig is 105 and i still have room to spare.

I'd get the 18 and not have to worry about it.

16 is plenty for my rig. My rig's WB is 103.5 (a little over half of the deck's length). I've got a truck box towards the front, gas jug storage, etc. and still PLENTY of space. Anything more would just be dead weight I'd be hauling around.

I just bought a 16' and pondered the same question for a while too. Finally it came down to the size of where I'm going to store it when not using it. Fitting that extra 2' wouldn't have worked where I want to store it and my rig fits fine on the 16'.

my 16' is fine for everything I haul. I run into a width problem more than length. With a full size setup, offset rims, tires, etc...it can get very tight.

16 fter, for me. Long enough for my junk.

Wheel base?????? How LONG is your vehicle? do you want it hanging off? I have a 18 footer (two foot dove tail) with a two foot square storrage box on it. Its nice to keep a tarp and some spares in the box. And my rig is just over 14 feet in overall length or 130 wb.

Here is one of my bronco's on my 18' trailer. I also have a 16' and it is more than big enough for the Bronco, but the 18' tows a lot better.

1) This should be in the "tow rigs & trailers section". :flipoff2:
Hey, I'm a "newbie" gotta get my digs in where I can.

2) a 16' is fine for your rig, but is that all you're gonna do with it? I'm pretty happy with my 18' deck. It tows my junk and it's versatile too (like when picking up Chevy Dually "parts vehicles")

that 18 would tow better with that bronc back a little farther, got to have waaaay too much toungue weight as it sits,,,

mine is an 18 and am very happy...

Another thing to consider is that a longer wheelbase trialer will be easier to back up. A shorter one tends to get away easier. However, a shorter trialer will track tighter, and be easier to turn. Basically, it boils down to what you want to do with it. I would go look at both, and if you can, try both out, and see what you like better.

Got a 20' and haven't needed all of it yet. Here's my suggestion. If you have ramps that store flat on the back like mine, or the flip up style, go with the longer deck. If not, then I think you can get a way with the shorter one.
Also, sometimes I am forced to put more weight on the tongue to keep the Jeep rear tires off the ramp storage area. And the longer deck allows better front to back tie down angle. Too small of a deck and angles start to get more side to side than front to back. Personally, I'd like a 20' with flip up ramps or 18' with ramps stored underneath.

I would say depends on a few things.
Tow rig. Is it capable of towing the extra length?
Do you have a Short or Longwheel base rig?
I think the smaller the better easier to get around in tight spots.
Less wear and tear on the tow rig.

Thanks guys, I forgot about the Storage, i don;t have the room for the 16, (but think i can make it work) but i know the 18 will never fit. So it looks like i am stuck with a 16

I was originally gonna buy a 16' but ended up buying a 18'. It was a good decision. Put a 2' box on the front for tools parts and gas. I just sold it because it isnt gonna get used for 2 years and was just money sitting there. Next trailer will be a 20 or 22' as I ran out of room when loading all the toys on it. The jeep was sitting too far back and it towed like shit. You are better off with somthing that is a little too long vs something that is a little too short. You wont notice the extra length untill you need it.
