I saw that same look on almost every competitor this weekend, and that made me proud. It was about bring a show, bring a great group of people together, for something most had never witnessed. It was way to much fun (except the court thing, of course). You know what? I think I'll punish myself and do it again..........:D :D :D :D :D

What was up with the court thing and closing the gates- lucky for me I made it in. All I've heard is a permit was not obtained. What was the permit for? Did the forest service/epa have to approve of this?

How could they have know that there was going to be more than 1000 people, when the event hadn't even started yet?

Something isn't being told here.

Such as???
SeaBass nailed it on the head. The way I understand it is that you need special permits to knowingly organize an event that is to have more than 1000 attendants, whether they be competitors/staff/spectators or other, or at least this is the loophole the county tried to use to get there share of the take. Everyone wants a piece of the pie...

So they filed an injunction at the last minute proclaiming that " this type of event must have more than 1000 people coming Judge!" What kinda of mamby pamby Judge is that that would here that. Well I think that it's gonna be out of control so lets not let them do it.

Big Rich, what is the deal with the injunction hearing. What were they claiming their basis was for hauling you into court, "he might exceed the limits?" Not saying that you don't need a permit for under 1000 or calling anyone a liar. Just trying to understand and I haven't heard why they drug you in.

here's the deal. The owner of the resort, has had many large events there before. Boat races, drag boat races, fishing tourneys, etc. Many events having more than 1,000 people. He's never had a problem. So when Rich approached him asking if they needed a permit, the owner told him no they did not. All was well until the owner of the resort called the sheriff's dept. asking for them to send out some deputies for crowd control. Shit went uphill from there. They were then informed that they had to have a permit for more than 1,000 people. How the owner had gotten away with it before, is another story. So they went to court, and the judge semi ruled in Rich's favor, allowing the event to continue, but with a cap of 1,000 people.

Good info thanks. So a county body went to the judge and said we want a permit for this? Makes sense now. Background info goood!

So is Rich eligible to obtain a permit for more than for any of the following CALROCS events? Cause I am sure this is only going to get a HELL OF A LOT more popular!

Yeah, Dena,
Now that Rich knows whats going on, he will be able to avoid being blind sided.
The owner at Lake Amadore, saw what we were all about also, and has plans to increase parking, and a few other good ideas that Rich knows more about. But the Sept, event next year will incorporate all of the improvements and should solve the short commings encountered this year. I think we got the spectating public's attention with this years event, and everyone will get a world class promotion next year. Its gonna be very popular having a venue like this, so close to a major City. Better tell Sean to get ready, for the influx of new customers, cause everyone with a 4x4 is gonna think they need a detroit.
