so after months of hard work i finally got the new rig done. started it up and got all the bugs worked out of the new 180hp fuel injected motor and decided to give her a little test run. so i go out to the back yard (1 acre ) and give it the loud pedal and sure enough i proced to throw a huge rooster tail as i whip it around doing a impressive 5000 rpm burn out doughnut as i am sliding completly side ways i feel both inside tires lift and at that exact moment i pulled a dumb ass rookie move and let off the gas. well instantly the outside tire quit spinning and dug in deep and hard to the soft earth and snaped me over onto my roof quicker that i could even blink. called my buddy over who had just left my house and we winched it back on its wheels and fired it right up. every thing looks fine so on the trailer it goes for a few days wheeling at the hammers with the rest of the Tin Benders.

ya i got pics but they are on 35mm so i will post them after turkey day.

LOL i guess i should have called this thread "how stupid is Camo?"

So camo, are you going to destroy it before the next CalROCs event, or are going to see if you have it. Jeff was going strong until he decided he need to workout more, I prefer the 12 oz curls to jeff's method. Glad to hear your running 'n

To mrs. camo: We are going to run at least one womens event this year, are you game.........?

So if I understand right the incedent that convinced you to put it up and rebuild it was the same incident that you just preformed after you rebuilt it. I think I see the logic....when you break the rig, the first thing you do after fixing it is redo your previous mistake to verify the new improvements worked. I call it "Camo Logic" but it does make sense.

Man oh man, you must have some harsh chemicals in that glitter factory to pull a stunt like that...:flipoff2:

Glad to hear you are OK, wonder, were you belted in and did you add some padding to the cage?

EXACTLY...it called comparision testing. gotta pick up where i left off. now it's time to move on. LOL

of course i was wearing my seat belt. if i didn't make a habbit of always putting on my belt when i climb into a rig i would have been killed long ago. one thing is for certain: when i am behind the wheel danger is not far behind. :skull:

as far as those pics go chris, is it any wonder i hesitate to let the wife drive? if people think i am nuts it's cause they have never seen lisa gettin it. :D

Who are you kiddin'? It doesn't take much to roll if you really want to. If you just want the image of having rolled before, a few strategic blows with a sledgehammer will do the trick. Then you'll be a hardcore muthfu**a.
Your attitude is funny. When you got those 35's, suddenly you were hardcore, and anyone with 33's was a pee-on. I only have 33's due to lack of funds, and even if I went to 38's, I wouldn't jump into an "I'm hardcore" role the way you do...
Your need to try to impress people on this board (And JU), is sad. I wheel my Heep, but it's not hardcore by the definition of what I've seen others on here do. I keep my mouth shut and don't try to fit into shoes I can't fill.:rolleyes:

Ok, tell me more about this "letting off the gas like a rookie". What SHOULD you have done, stayed on the gas until you got it straight? I do donuts all the time and usually just let off the gas to stop sliding, and straighten out at the same time.

Call me a rookie for asking, but I'd rather learn the easy way than the hard way :D I'm still good enough to make perfect donuts, nice full circle with the beginning and end in the same spot, with the same width of skid the entire way around :p

i find it much easier to fawk up in my yard than anywhere else. just comes natural i guess. i have broke two axles in my driveway and about flopped a couple of times to. but they were all alcohol influnced incidents. never really broke anything bad on the trail, just flopped it a couple of times. glade to here you are up and running.

When doing donut it's fine to let the gas off and slow down, but when you get 2 wheels up in the air you need to stay on the gas to keep those wheels on the ground sliding so they don't dig in. Plus turning into the roll helps too.

just like on a motorcycle, if you think its gonna spin or flop just lay into the throttle some more and let the steering go straight. I learned this riding a dirt bike on the winter streets of Denver, people think your nuts when they ask how you keep it on two wheels and you tell them "when in doupt gas'r out"

VT_Toy
11-21-2001, 11:10 AM
Yeah, what you guys said makes sense. As I think about it, I guess I already do that when it's sliding real fast, steer into it and not let off too fast to keep the tires from catching :D

mrs. camo
11-21-2001, 11:23 AM
i just remember the only advice my dad ever gave me:if in doubt...throttle out. it works for me

camo
11-21-2001, 12:35 PM
when you are completly side ways with the tires spinning if you aburptly let off the gas the tire that was spinning catches and digs in....sending you sailing. i should have kept the pedal pegged and steered out of it until i was more straight. then let off.

i have learned this the hard way in the past. i just fawked up on this one
