: Drive shaft lengthening

I just put the TT front YJ kit on fabbed a rear YJ kit and went 5.5" spring over. Both driveshafts are too short (obviously). Right now I have the front removed ant a 1" spacer in the rear at the pinion end. Will a 1 inch spacer at each end put too much of an angle on the U joints? Its still really short and I get vibes I suspect from the slip yoke being extended almost all the way. Does anyone have a similar suspension? I know how much I need to extend them but is it possible to extend them myself and get them balanced at a driveline shop? The shop refuses to extend them for me.

I have 5.5"spoa yj in rear 8" dsl shacles with 1/2"spacer at case and pinion no problems in rear but slite vibe I run stock rear sami's on the front with 8"dsl has a 3/4 spacer at pinion no problems not all that familiar with tt yj kit mines all garage built
but TT offers extnded slip yokes 1" and 2" over stock there part #
are #ses401 and #ses402
otherwise find a better diveshaft shop you can see the pics I posted under the cj spring question good luck

I just got my front and rear TT YJ kit in the mail today. I talked to Brent at TT and he recommended using a spacer in the front (I think he said 1", but can't remember) and a longer spline in the rear. He doesn't recommend a rear spacer because the rear shaft is too short and the angle is all wrong, whereas the front is longer so it doesn't matter. I'm going to run a spacer up front and longer splines front/rear. I'm planning on installing it all tomorrow, and call Brent back about the driveshafts and see exactly what I need. I'll let you know if you haven't already taken care of everything. Man, I'm stoked; I'm not gonna sleep tonight. :smokin: :D :skull: ~Steve

Shane, give me a few days to get everything mounted and measured and I will let you know. Are you talking about complete driveshafts or just extended yokes? Thanks. ~Steve

I'm interested in those shafts you are selling. Get me some lengths if you can to see if they will fit my application. Front and rear. Are they balanced? Any vibration?

I got my front done last night... started on the rear, but it is a PITA! The kit is easy, but the old stuff is all rusted on and I think I'm gonna need new u-bolts, one for the front for sure (one got stripped). Hopefully we are going to get the rear together tonight... hopefully. I'm probably going to get some spacers and extended yokes anyway, though, but we'll just have to see. Very tired today after last night. ~Steve

Good Luck on it. I had My suspension apart an few times in the last year so rust was not a problem. I fabbed the rear kit so that was my biggest problem. Have you jacked it up to whitness the droop yet? How many leaf packs did you go with?

I went with five-leaf packs. Seems like what everyone preferred on here. And that droop is awesome! I think I'm going to need to get a taller hi-lift, I know I'm going to max out my 48" the first time I need it. Can't what to get it all up and running and go test it. It sits an inch taller in the front now, which surprised me since I had a stock spring S/R on it before. Very pleased with it so far. :) ~Steve
