I copied the original post and added all the links that people suggested/provided. I put the names of the person that posted next to the link so you can contact them or reference the original post here (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?threadid=8072&referrerid=1494) ...

Here are the sites that I use most frequently. Some of them also have mailing lists and alert lists. I would encourage you to visit them and explore the sites and get on a few (if not all) mailing lists. (warning: this may give you upwards of 100 e-mails a day, usually 35-40.)This is by no means a full list, just a list I compiled from the resources I use the most. Please add any sites to this thread that you feel are helpful. They are in no particular order.

California Association of 4WD Clubs (http://www.cal4wheel.com/)

United Four Wheel Drive Ass. (http://www.ufwda.org/)

Blue Ribbon Coalition (http://www.sharetrails.org/)

Off-Road.Com (http://www.off-road.com/orcland.html)

Outdoor Wire (http://www.outdoorwire.com)

Land Use Network (http://www.off-road.com/landuse/landuse.htm)
(They have a mailing list section down towards the bottom. This will link you to all their lists. The one called "Land Use" (either real-time or digest mode) is the most informative, widely used list I have found. You will notice that a lot of my posts come from the "LUN", this is the list.)

I would like to reiterate one thing that Pete said, if you care at all about land use issues, subscribe to the LUN, it is the best source for current info on the web, but like he said be prepared to have your email inbox filled. As an alternative, you can subscribe in digest mode. There should be a link in my sig (first post, so not sure if it works), go to the bottom of the main page and click on "Rest of the News", the link to sign up is there.

thank you for the listings.

Just some food for thought. What about site listings for the other groups that are responsible for the land grabs, closures ect.? It might be kind of nice to see what kind of information they are sending their supporters.

Got another one to add to the :flipoff: list
www.earthjustice.org

I just got some "information" from them (why do I get all this crap from the eco-nuts???), and on the outside envolpe it states: "How Special interests are using the courts to undermine vital environmental protections". Inside it goes on & on about it's a good thing for all these environmental extemist groups to waste millions of taxpayer money to push thier views, but it's a bad thing if anyone doesn't agree with thier views & trys to fight them...
:mad3: :flipoff:

BTW, they also sent me a neat little paper listing all the groups who have hired laywers, they lawyers name, and what the issues they've filed lawsuits on

Anyone want me to scan it & e-mail it to them?

Memorandum

TO: Environment Committee
Lands Committee
Safety, Health & Human Resources Committee
Transportation Committee
FROM: Hal Quinn
DATE: February 11, 2003
SUBJECT: New Federal Government Regulation Website

----------

The Federal Government has established a new website that allows the
public to view Federal regulations of all agencies that are currently open
for public comment. The new website is located at
http://www.regulations.gov/. The website not only
enables users to identify and read proposed rules of over 80 agencies on
the site, but also to file comments electronically without leaving the
website.

The new website should be an easy and useful tool in participating in the
federal rulemaking process. We would expect that the site will result in a
substantial increase in the number of comments agencies will receive in
response to proposed rules. Indeed, it may very well foster what we often
refer to as the development of regulatory policy by "referendum." In other
words, the massive submission of form letters intended to influence the
outcome by the sheer force of numbers in favor or opposed to a particular
proposal. However, we do not view this approach to the rulemaking process
as particularly effective. In fact, many agencies are now setting aside
those types of submissions and simply acknowledging their receipt in a
final rule with a description that they received a certain number of form
submissions.

We believe that the most effective means of participation remains the
development of thoughtful and persuasive commentary, particularly that
developed by the industry through its associations like NMA. This new
website will aid you in submitting comments that supplement the commentary
you help NMA develop on behalf of the industry.

yep, i saw a cartoon recently that they put out and it was a bunch of wheelers with long hair, mohawks, tattoos, and piercings, blaring heavy metal etc...driving out across the desert, thought it was funny because right before this i saw haliburton trucks litterally driving across virgin desert terrain, i couldnt believe what i was seeing, and then these asshats think were the problem, what a stereo type,it's like the columbine trench coats, we had to watch a video here at work about potential threats etc... and the guys they profiled all had long hair and trench coats on,we all laughed but it's this kind of media bs that gets alot of people bad press, and makes certain groups look bad
