Codeman 11-20-2001, 09:29 PM Sounds good to me if it runs good.
They already trashed the D35 for you and it should have the NP231, but could be wrong, not sure about '88
Po' riggity 11-20-2001, 11:48 PM Thats a real good deal for all the stuff its got on it.. It does have the NP231 t case, not the crappy NP207. The 207 only came in 87 yj's...

84scrambler 11-21-2001, 09:13 AM cool i am getting it today so wheeling this weekend wooo hoooo:trooper:
DE Jeeper 11-21-2001, 10:06 AM The problem is not the t-case, but the tranny. If it is a 5 speed then it is a Peugote BA/10. With the Mopar EFI on the engine it will not hold up too long. Swapping in an AX-15 or an NV3550 should be #1 on the list. If it is an automatic then you are okay. The NP231 should have a slip yoke eliminator kit on it, if it doesn't it will need one because of the SOA. Just my $.02.
red87yj 11-21-2001, 11:39 AM yeh it should have a np231 but make sure. my 87 should have a np207 but when i looked under to check it a couple months ago it has a np231.
84scrambler 11-21-2001, 12:13 PM yea that is the only thing i dont like is the pos tran. for now it works so what is better t-18, 435, nv i wish, or an ax15,or 5
and who makes the best slip yoke eliminator thanks guys:trooper:

This isnt necessarily true either.. If your 89 was made after march of 89, then it will have the AX-15. Just thought Id give you another thing to think about.

Dan-H 11-21-2001, 12:47 PM will it pass smog with the newer motor?
1988YJ 11-21-2001, 01:53 PM Smog should'nt be a problem for the Mopar EFI. Run the POS Puegot until it blow's, you might be surprised, then plan your drivetrain upgrade. By then you will know what you want. Good price on your 88, it will only go up from here....
84scrambler 11-21-2001, 02:47 PM well it will be more of a weekend wheeler daliy driver so we will see on the tran and it is all smogged and has a new sticker from the ref. what front end do you swap in to get rid of the two piece axle is it out of a zj or a xj cause i can get eather for hell of cheep thanks agian guys

Po' riggity 11-21-2001, 11:55 PM If you get the D30 from an XJ, even if its just the shafts, you will eliminate the vaccuum disco, and remember to look at the manufacturing date, and if it was made after March of 1989, you should have the AX15 which is significantly better than the puegot.
