Ya OK, searched for "lift needed" "how much lift " etc. MOST posts give specific lift need for size xx tires. So for my question ...

1) FOR JEEP TJ, How much lift is needed for different size tires?
2)DO YOU KNOW OF A WEBSITE THAT HAS THIS INFO?
3) At how much lift does one need to worry about high center of gravity and rollover issues?

I'm most interested in lift needed for 31, 33, and 35 inch tires with decent but not extreme articulation, but it would be great to find a website that shows lift needed for larger tires too.

Thanks much!

I think 4 Wheel Parts (http://www.4wpw.com) has one somewhere on their site. Take a few minutes to look around and you should find it.

if I'm correct.... 3" for 31's, 4-5" for 33's, and 6-7" for 35's

I ran 31s on my stock SE wheels for a while - they rub on the control arms at full lock, but I got by. Sitting with just a 2" spring lift I had 33s. Now with 4" and a 1.5" body lift getting ready to go on, I could probably fit 35s no prob.

I'd recommend 4-5" for a TJ to fit 33s comfortably, 35s would fit easily, but with some rubbing at full suspension stuff. Once you go with 6" or so you can fit 36-38s with a 1" body lift.

How high can a TJ go before high center of gravity and rollover concerns kick in? How about legal issues? Is 5" legal in all states? 6"? 3"?

Thanks!

There are kits for TJ's to 10" that are all DOT approved. It all depends on how you set your rig up.

That's pretty subjective, really. I run 33" TSLs on 3.75" backspaced 15x8's w/ 3" lift & just a WEE bit of trimming inside the rear fender (the tires would fit fine w/out the trimming, but i needed flex room). I could fit 35's easily 4" of lift total. Tire size/lift height really depends on how much of the original body you wanna keep & how much you wanna flex offroad.

Some states don't care about amount of lift... it's the size of the vehicle & bumper height that matter most. In NC, they don't care a lick how hight yer truck is or if it's got fenders, but in VA... they'll getcha for being too high/no fenders/etc.
