Anyone been there? I ride in Tellico alot and my buddies been trying to get me to go to this place called the Globe outside of Boone. I'm not sure I trust his judgment tho since he mainly likes to sling mud.

Never been there myself but I have a buddy that goes to ASU who wants me to drive up there and run it with him. He's run it quite a few times and said its not extremely difficult but there's a big ass rock thing that everyone has to winch over. My buddy said he can get through that section most of the time without winching and fyi he's running a SOA YJ with 33s and lockers front and rear.

These are the only things I could find regarding a write up of the trail. They aren't very detailed and they don't have alot of pics but it might help you get a little bit of an idea what to expect. One of them says that if it rains don't expect to run it without a locker or alot of skinny pedal.

Sounds good slug, but from the sound of it I'd much rather go to Tellico. You find a Rockwell for the front yet?

Finding a front axle isn't a problem. I live 30 miles away from White Owl Parts (http://www.whiteowl.com). They have the fronts piled 6 feet high in stacks. I am waiting on my wheels to come back from the machine shop before I get the front. The machine shop is cutting out the centers of some 15x10 steel wheels and welding in some new centers for me. Then I will mount my 38.5" Ground Hawgs, so I can move around the front axle when I get it. Then I have to worry about setting up the front suspention/ breaks/driveshaft. AGGGGGHH!!! I just hope I can grind away enough of the front crossmember to clear the front driveshaft. I may need to do serious Header modification also. I guess I will cross that bridge when I come to it though.

PS. Rob I may take you up on the pics of your steering box when it comes back.

ive been up there once after it rained and was able to do everything with my open diffs and 33" it was definately a challenge though but the guys with a locker just walked over everything its still a good spot to wheel.

I live in Boone and run Globe at least twice a month. First off, it is no Tellico. It's fun, and it is better than say Uwharrie, but no Tellico.

The trail consist of a lot of off camber sections and hill climbs. When muddy sections can be very diffucult. The biggest obstacle is a big rock that is impossible to go around. If you live within 2-3 hours, it might be worth checking it out for a days run. (something different) However, Tellico would be a better option.

I will post a link to some pic later, if anyone is interested.

Ok, here is my local clubs web page. There are several pictures of the Globe under the "Last Trail Ride" section. It is crappy weppage because it is through Yahoo, but it is free.....
