My 30rh (TF904) is getting a deep tranny pan and refreshed in a few days and I was thinking about installing a shift kit. What can I expect from the results? I've searched and read that it will hold the RPMS higher and then shift quickly and not split it between 2 gears. Are the shifts that much "harder" and if so are they tolerable, how do you like it? Besides B&M and Transgo who makes a kit for the Mopars??

I did a b&m transpack kit in my 46rh (tf727). i love it. from http://www.bmracing.comThe next step up from the Shift Improver Kit is the Transpak. It has all the features in the Shift Improver Kit plus it provides additional driver manual control (GM TH-400, 350, Ford C-6 & Chrysler Torqueflite only). Most stock automatic transmissions won't downshift into low gear above 15 mph, and automatically upshift at a predetermined speed no matter what gear you're in. With the Transpak, you can downshift at any speed, and you can hold the transmission in first gear to any speed that you want! This is an asset when you've got a modified engine, and you want additional RPMs, or you're towing a trailer or driving heavy loads downhill.

Stage 1 Heavy Duty - For street rods, normal passenger vehicles or other heavy duty use. Firmer shift feel but not harsh. Improves transmission performance and life dramatically without loss of comfort. Normal automatic operation when in "Drive".

Stage 2 Hi-Performance Street - For full performance street use. Essentially the same as Heavy Duty mode except shift is much snappier. Retain full automatic features and standard shift points with selector in "Drive".

Key Features
Recalibrate your automatic transmission for optimum performance.
Select the mode that best suits your application.
Improves transmission life.
Transmission removal not required.

if you are worried about it being too rough.. then just do a stage one kit.

I'm running a TCI kit, setup with RV/stage 2. The kit is on a 727, which stock will hold any gear until boom. The shifts are a tad tighter when I'm not on it. If I hold first and bring the RPM's up and then click to second the shift is tight and quick. When in low (4:1) in the t-case, the shift from first to second is obnoxious and causes my Scout to surge hard. I only use second in low if I need to move quickly between locations.
