Yes, I tried the Search feature but it bounces anything less than 4 charecters long.
I scored a BB 9" housing out of a '77 Bronco. Will 35 spline axles fit without any weird a$$ bearings. I'm dreaming of 35 spline with Detroit Locker . I figure at least I can make the rear bomb proof :D :D :D

by the time you spend the money on the third member it would be cheaper to do a 60. I did a 60 with 9" outers full spool and Moser 35 splined axles and disc's for less than a 35splined 9".

Those guys are right. I know from being on the EBML (Early Bronco Mailing List) for 6 years. There have been thousands of members from all across the country over that time and they have probably owned close to 10,000 broncos all of them put together. and each of those question comes up every couple months.
 Does the third member need any special machining to accept a 35 detroit? (side bearings larger?) Other than the expence of 35 spline axles/detroit/new gears and set-up of it all what else am I looking at?
Or would I better off just saving my money and go 31 spline w/after market axles?
Thanks

You need an aftermarket third member ( strange or another make ) they will cost you some $ to get and setup. with a 60 35 splined stuff fits rite in and the 35 splines are the same no matter what so that is the best that I came up with. The 31 splined stuff should be fine but I did not want to have to wonder if it would hold up or not so I went 35 splined and I do not think I will ever have a problem. If you are intreasted in a spool then Moser makes 33 splined axles and a spool that will go into a standard 9" third member.

So what about ground clearance on the 60 vs the 9"?

The 9" has more clearance I did not measure and compare the two but I did shave about 3/4" off of the bottom of the 60 without much work I was not overly concerned with the clearance issue I will say that the pinion on a standard 60 is way higher than on a 9" so anything you give up in ground clearance you will make up in drivline abuse.
Thanks for the clarrification on the need for a non-standerd Third member. Who did the Fab work on the D-60 you installed? Do you have any pics of the rear end before you installed it?

How did you go about shaving your 60? Grinder? How did you guage how much to take off

After I get the locker and gears in the nose I will pull it out of the garage and shoot a few pictures of the rear end
I gauged the shaving with the cover off by the thickness of the material left when done I still have about 3/8 between damage and gears. I cut off some with the sawzall and then ground the rest with a 4 1/2 grinder. If you do this inmho you must make something to keep the dif cover from pealing off the pictures will show what I thought was fine just my opinion.
