: Beadlocks leaking air remedy??
RoCkSkuLLz 11-21-2001, 07:59 AM Well I've had my 36 bolt MRT beadlocks for almost a year now and I still cant figure out why they randomly leak. Id didnt bother me to much at first but know its just getting old. Any suggestions on how to stop the leaks? Thanks! :D
massey2jeep 11-21-2001, 08:05 AM I've heard that silicone works. Run a bead of clear sili around and wiat for it to set up before inflating...VOILA!
I haven't done it myself, but I hears it works. Heck give it a shot...
H8monday 11-21-2001, 08:24 AM Massey is right, run a nice coat of silicone along the bead welds. MRT is known for having high quality welds, but it is a good extra measure to ensure air tight integrity.
Also use some clean grease at the tire bead and outer ring. Lube it fairly well so that the tire can move around as the bead bolts are being tightened, this will allow the tire bead to be able to adjust itself as the ring starts clamping down, and wont allow any binds to form small puckers that air can leak through.

would you mind repeating that for us???:flipoff2:
yes, use clear silicone, apply it to the inside ring, let it cure, and bolt it all back together.

postal 11-21-2001, 02:21 PM Are you running Swampers on your beadlocks? Seems like anything with Swampers on it has at least two tires that slowly leak down. My mud truck did it, my Jeep does it (and did it before I got beadlocks), all my friend's rigs do it too. Few days after I go wheelin', my Jeep has two flats, guaranteed.
It's a Jeep thing...:jeep2:

Yup! im running 38.5x16x15 TSL swamps. At first I didnt mind to much but know it bugs me.. I hate having to fill up and check all the tire pressure before driving it, and yea it seems some how two of the tires are either flat or very low in pressure. And what bugs more is that its not always the same two tires. O-well my Rockbuggy is just my weekend beater so I dont have to rely on it everyday... :smokin:
Rockbuggy, I can fix your problem,,,,
sell me your rims and tires and buy new improved beadlocks.
Yours must be junk... :flipoff2:
But one mans junk is another mans treasure. :D
