In an effort to get the most Scramblers at the Rubicon Scramble next year, a survey has been developed to find the best date and duration for the scramble.

If you are wishing to participate (even if you are unsure), please fill out the survey to get your $.02 in and to get on the mailinglist for any updates

Thanks

Jerry

It has been officially 1 week since the survey started. We have had 477 people look at the survey, 106 look at the results, and 33 fill out the survey as potential attendees for next years event.

Currently, 21 of the 33 potential attendees (63.3%) can attend the July 11-14, 2002 dates followed closely by 19 being able to attend the August 15-18 dates (57.6%).

The majority of the people are going for a 3 day event vs. a 4 day event.

If you haven't filled out the survey yet or know someone that is interested in going, please fill out the survey and pick your preferred dates. With the response we have had on the survey, we will be able to set the date probably by the new year. The survey will continue until then and after that point will be used as a sign-up sheet for potential attendees.

If anyone is interested in seeing an example of the Rubicon Scramble Shirt Embrodery looks like, you can see it attached (It will say Rubicon Scramble Vs. San Jaun Scramble)

Thanks again,
Jerry

I noticed your tagline about '75 Scrambler. I'm sure the sacrifice of your CJ-7 was worth the improved storage capacity.

Great looking taildragger.

took the survey and yes i will try to be there this year. the jeep should be in order with the new SOA and the 5.0 seem to work well. also have a tow vehicle this year and now just need to score a trailor.

Well the Rubicon Scramble date has been chosen. The majority wanted a 3 day trip beginning on Friday, July 12, 2002.

For those who voted for 4 days, don't be too upset. The Scramble will allow you to stay an extra day at the Rubicon Springs and head up Cadillac Hill on Monday Morning.

So mark your Calendars fellow Taildraggers for July 12-15, 2002 for the Rubicon Scramble V.

All rigs are welcome. We currently have about 45 people signed up and about 1/3 of them are other than scramblers. So tag along and enjoy yourself.

To sign-up just follow this link: http://www.geocities.com/jyd4wdc/rsv/index.htm

Yes, I'll be there. There is a wide variety of "built-ness" of the rigs that show up. Each time there are a few mostly stock rigs (with a traction device or two) that get through just fine. Then there are some killer CJ8's that need to have the drool wiped off occasionally. I just purchased some PartsMike high steer knuckles and arms for my front D44. They do look well made. I'll pick up a pair of CTM's and Chrome Moly axles and I should be good to go.

Ledjer,
I have a small group of 5-10 jeeps from San diego 4wheelers doing the trail on the same weekend as you guys. Are you starting the trail on July11 and if so we will try to run ahead of you so as to avoid traffic congestion. We'll be taking off early am on 7/11.

Erik, We are actually going to be there July 12-15. So we won't be leaving until Friday Morning at 8:00am. So you will definately be ahead of us by a day.

Or, what the hell, maybe we'll just see you guys there.

We will have about 40+ rigs, so you might just blend in. I suggest you head out earlier, but remember we all will be joining you at Spider, so it will be crowded. Maybe you might want to head to Rock Bound the first day.

I wish i could go with my 8. My local club here in salt lake (Rock Hoppers) is actually doing the trail the 1-4 of july.... I hope you guys have fun and if you see a broken down green cj 8 half way through give me a hand on getting out.....lol.......

Eric,
I suggest you not start at 8am on Fri. July 12th. Trust me, you don't want to get caught up with a big group unless you really like slow and have a 300:1 low range. Either whisk out before 7am in front of the long boys, or make it more liesurely and leave at 10- or 10:30am. It's still plenty of time to get to Spider and, like rush hour traffic, you either get in front of it by leaving early or leave later and get there about the same time 8<)
I'll probably be trailing as tailgunner again for the '8's. There was some flotsom and jetsom last year with breakdowns we had to fix. I never saw most of my group in the daylight until the 2nd day.

See you there, but do be prepared to be over run. 40+ rigs do take up a lot of space and there isn't much as spider, as you might know. Also be prepared to sleep on rocks, we always do since space is limited.

Here is a pic from last years run. My scrambler is the one under the canapy.
