I have a 94 1 ton chevy with a very tired tbi 454. I'm going to swap in another 454 that i have that is fresh with good heads, cam, etc. This new motor is way to much for the stock injection so i intend to run it carbureted with a stock HEI ignition. My question is ..Does anyone know of any prolems a might face with this swap as far as guages, sending unit compatibility etc..
Oh ya the truck has a 5 speed so im not worried about the tranny working. Thanks for any info..............tony

Your going to have to much fuel pressure, probly just need a regulator or new fuel pump.

Aside from the obvious probs, as far as the fuel pressure, there are a couple simple solutions.

1) Run a fuel presure regulator, ie the cheapie adjustable kind, with a T just before the regulator, going to the carb.

2) Run a Jeep fuel filter. They have 3 ports, inlet, return line, and carb. We did this on my brother's '70, running an in-tank TBI pump and a q-jet, worked good. Application was a '79 CJ w/a 304.

I would stay with the TBI set up if I where you.A friend of mine had the same plan that you got. After all the probs,he went back to the TBI and it ran just fine.
