Hey, I am going to being making/installing a snorkle outta pvc and want to know what all is involved ? I think I am going to point the intake of the snorkle at the top backwards so it won't suck up any dust in the desert, would pointing it backwards cause any problems ?? Thanks ! ... and if you have any pics of yours or ideas please post them !

Check this out for a DIY Snorkel (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17173) .

Go through the whole thread for several options that may better suit your application. I am going to be doing one on my FSJ Cherokee that no one makes aftermarket shiat for. Good Luck.

It will help or hurt depending on the bends and diameter tubing. I use the same name at www.highlifter.com (4wheeler forum) where many of us have snorkeled our bikes to make submarine runs. If you want to see a few pictures let me know. Just make sure you snorkel your differentials, transfer case, and another other thing like transmission that may have a breather line. Oh, run your engine intake seperate from the rest or it will not let the other stuff breathe.

 Not sure why you think the diffs, trans/xfer can't be vented into the intake. Every HMMWV (Hummer) is built that way. The only problems I've encountered were clogged lines causing pressure build-up/fluid puking. (HMMWV run too small <.25" ID plastic tubing).

If you're seeing vacume at the vent lines, you need to vent before the airfilter and/or a bigger (less restriction) filter.

The suction is what I was talking about. I guess it is a personal preference. I have pictures of my previously run snorkel system which the breathers were injected into the snorkel well before the intake.
