How wide are the disc brake 8.8 rears that are used in Explorers?

I'm planning a 62-64" wide D44 for the front of my Toy, trying to figure out what to use in the rear.

Thanks for any info!

for some reason 58" comes to mind for the sploder 8.8.....

Yeah 58" is right.

Darn, guess I'll hunt down a D60 that's the right width.

you could always gt a fullsize 8.8" or 9" and change to disc brakes. The Explorer disc brakes bolt on to any truck 8.8" or big bearing 9"

I thought the Explorer has 5 on 5 bolt pattern? Or would it just be a matter of redrilling the rotors??

The explorer has a 5 lug on 4.5" lug configuration.

Then how come Paul said Explorer disc brakes will bolt on? Cause I have to rebuild my 9" - if I don't put my D60 under there instead - and I'd like to try that, IF it truly is a bolt-on process using the Explorer disc parts

nope, the 9" has a 5 lug on 5.5" lug configuration, as do the 8.8" in F150s and Broncos.

Right, I knew that, but that's why I was wondering if it was just a matter of redrilling the rotors to make them work? Is that possible??

I see no reason why not.

So you haven't done this yourself, yet? Even tho I'd like to do this swap, I'll either wait for someone to verify that this is a do-able swap, or wait til I have the money to try this myself.

Thanks for your response

I have no need to do this myself. As far as you waiting for someone else to do it, you can be a leader or a follower. Go nuts. If you aren't sure about drilling the rotors for another bolt pattern have a shop do it.

Hahaa, I just noticed your avatar....that explains why you don't need to do this. I actually wouldn't mind doing this, problem is, funding - or lack thereof. But, soon as I get a few extra bucks, I'm headin to the junkyard.

Any chance you happen to have some pictures of how YOUR rear discs are setup??

Well crap, the pics won't load. I wonder why....maybe I'll try again about a half hour later or so. I gotta say tho, you're one of the quickest I've seen respond to a post. I gotta come around here more often <img src=http://www.freakygamers.com/smilies/s/contrib/ruinkai/winknudge.gif>

I've got a fullsize 8.8 for ya. It's got everything except a ring and pinion in it. Let me know if you're interested. I'll give it up real cheap.

heh, thanks for the offer Rob, but I was only curious about the disc brake swap possibility, as I already have my 9" to work with
