I'm wondering what spline the d44 out of a 77 1/2 would be? I was told that the front end was possibly a 3/4ton, is there a spline differance? I just dont want to rip it a part to find out. I'm in the proccess of gettting spare axle shafts for it and dont want to get the wrong ones!

both 1/2 and 3/4 ton are 1.31 o.d. and both are 30 spline same thing

That's what I found out after putting in a 1/2 ton Dana 44 in my chevy and blowing up one of the u-joints on a hill.. It had the little u-joints and smaller axles in it.
I got the 3/4 ton axles now and they are working fine..
