i was really hoping to get it below the 4k mark but i just missed. i still have to add a baby racing seat in the back for my son and a trail box. this rig was built for a family (of 3) wheeling rig. it is not a comp buggy so weight was not the ultimate concern but i did try and keep the weight down.
joes75bronco was the closest with 4234
not that he won anything :flipoff2:

84" tall and 84-85" wide. i am hoping it'll sag a bit once the springs get flexed a few times.
i had to change my steering pump and that fixed the hydro problem. it wasn't running good then and after changing a fuel pump i found that it was nothing more than a kinked pickup hose in the fuel cell. that is all fixed and i am ready to play. :D

Erik D_lux 05-26-2003, 12:03 PM Well you did better then me. I am at 4600. Thats with all my tools and a full tank of gas. You have 42's but I guess I have the hummer wheels. I think you did pretty good to keep the weight down. Really though where else would you trim from?
Anybody running 1tons and not a full buggy under 4k?

Erik D_lux 05-26-2003, 12:05 PM 62" D60 front? What did you pull that out of?

hummer rims look heavy but these steel wheels with 1/4" inner and outer rings for bead locks are heavy too!
there is not a whole lot i can trim. if i were to build a sf rear end that would save a chuck of weight but for what i want out of this rig i like ff. the ff rear is cheap easy and strong. i have no need for custom shafts if i ever do manage to break one. one of rugburns plastic hoods would save a bunch of weight too. i need to redo the brakes on the dana 60 and i am considering convering it to 3/4ton brakes. they would save some weight over the huge 1ton dana 60 brakes. synthetic winch rope is another option. there are things that can be done but this rig will never be super light weight.

it is from an 87 chevy crewcab. i cut each side down 3.5"

BillaVista 05-26-2003, 04:05 PM Super cool High5....I love it!
Big Beefy trail rigs are where it's at babeeee! Super-light comp bugs are an amusing distraction when i can;t be wrenchin' or wheelin' in my REAL trail rig :flipoff2:

3.5" per side......Do your tires hit the springs?

yep when i went to 42's they hit pretty bad. i now have 1 1/4" spacers on each side (front only) and they hit no more. they hit just a little with 38.5 sx's but not bad.
