I'm trying to pull the BA 10/5 out of my 89 cherokee and am having some trouble. There are 2 torx bolts at the top of the bell housing that are real tough to get to and won't budge. Are there any tricks for pulling these out?

Go to Sears or similar, you need an E12 socket. It's an external tork bolt. Then use whatever socket extensions/ swivels ya need to reach it.

It may help to drop the rear crossmember if you cant reach.

torch! it's always cool when bolts start bubbling...

j/k, you'd probly melt the bellhousing first.

get a craftsman torx bit that is a size too large. then hammer the bit into the bolt. torque it out at your leisure. then returned the ruined torx bit "oops, my bad."

gotta love craftsman.

Yea I got the E 12 socket. Droped the rear cross for more clearance. I just can't get the things to budge. they're not reverse thread or anything are they?

air or electric impact and about a mile of extensions

This may sound dumb, but ya didnt mention it so I have to ask. Have ya tried from inside the cab through the shifter hole? Get alot more torque when your not layin flat on your back.
