I have a 98.5 24v... I replaced my Injection pump about 35000 miles ago and just the other day my Check engine light came on with a code 216 ( Injector/injection Timing Control Circuit Mailfunction) has anyone had this code and found the problem... I cleared it and I when away for about 4 days and just came back last night..... I am thinking about changing the Cam Postions sensor and starting their, I don't want to put another 1000$ pump in it:( any Ideas?
Thanks
Chris

do you have a fuel pressure gauge to monitor lift pump output pressure? 2nd generation 24v had lift pump issues. if you dont keep enough pressure to the injection pump you can damage it.
a lot of the guys at turbodieselregister say that a FP gauge is one of the most important things to keep your eye on on the 24v's. good luck.

Ya thats why my first Injection pump when out:( It has a new Lift pump with around 35000 on it. I changed both at the same time... I am thinking this is more of an electrical problem the truck runs great just the check engine light.... when the pump when out the first time it would Idle bad and didn't run all that great... But with that said I should check the pressers
I did check the TDR but I didn't see anything on this problem... Guess its time to subscribe to it
If you have a fuel pressure gauge what is it reading?? When was the last time you changed your fuel filter?? A restriction in the fuel system can cause this code.
In addition your lift pump could be shot...just casue it was new 35K ago does not mean its still good. I have run through three of them in 30K miles.... and I know guys who had bad ones right out of the box from Cummins.
Good luck and go sign up at on the TDR.

What are the pressurs it sould be at? I have to make an adapter to check... just too lazy:D It is working just not sure on the pressure...

you should see around 10-12 psi at idle. my gauge red lines in the 0-5 psi mark. if your near or under 5 at idle youve got issues.

EDIT>>>>>> those numbers i gave you are a little on the low side. i just checked and the gen. rule of thumb for a healthy lift pump is 11-15 @ idle and 6-11 @ WOT. dont drive it if its less than 5/6 at idle. oh yeah....:flipoff2:
