What a pain..

I was ready to wheel again and I decided to stuf the front 60 in.

The spring perches need to be 2" ABOVE the axe tubes for it to work properly.

Making perches out of 3" box tubing is easy. At least on the Drivers side.

On the passengers side I am running into trouble.
suppose it would be bad to make an L shaped pad out of two pieces of 1/4" steel welded together?

I do not have access to a 90* bender that can bend the amount that I need.
Foothill off road has an interesting system where the inner spring pad mount is just in side of the center. Allowing a better mounting position for the inner pad mount.

Or does anyone else have any easy better ideas..

Cruiser wrenching time has gotten to be a premium lately..

Are you referring to an FJ60 front on a FJ40?

Dieselcruiserhead posted some pics of my setup a few weeks ago, take a look at it... we have done it several ways and the way mine is seems to be the easiest and most practical...

On my soa I used 3/8''x2'' flatbar to make the perches and it seems plenty stout to me. The inside piece can be cut or notched however you need it to be before welding it to the top plate.

Bite me....

I figured that outboarding the springs would reduce flex.
But it sure seems easier now that I look at it.

I should have just linked the dam thing and be done with it..

Can it be THAT hard ? come on :flipoff2:

Funny thing is I was just figuring out how to put an HJ6x housing uinder my BJ40, and it looked really straightforward for my SU setup...

first decide you will put the spring pads (inside edge) 25" apart from each other instead of the stock 24.4" (60 is 26.8)

Now you only need 1.8 inch total gain. make the spring pads 1" high just like stock, you win another 0.75"... allow a slight offset of your axle on the LHS of say 3/8" and you're good to go !!!

Piece of cake :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
