My 86 toyota was denied for inspection for the reason that i have no cat converters. My question is that i don't want to have to cut my exhaust up and put cats on so is there a law on where you have to place the cats? I live in the state of maine and i was wondering if i could just slip them over the end of the tail pipes?? i know this would be rediculous but anything for a sticker right:D

I bet for $100 bucks you could have one put on the truck the right way.... they would cut the pipes, put in the cat and weld it up... just do that way, and do it right.

A cat wouldn't work well if it were out past the muffler, they need the heat. I know Utah requires them in the stock locations, most states probably do as well. Well, those that require them at all anyway. Just have it done right.
