Willysfreak and I went to pick up our Gladiator this weekend from Quincy. A little ways before getting there I heard the familiar sound of a broken trailer spring. Sure enough. Broke!
This is Saterday at 4:00pm in little ass Quincy. Went to the auto parts stores. Nothing.
Went to the local welding shop and asked if he would weld the spring. Seemed like our last option. He said he would so we took it off the trailer and had it to him fast. He welds it and we go put it back on. Drive 5 blocks, unloaded, and it breaks! Shit!
I get an idea to use a coil spring and braces to locate the axle laterally. Find a coil at the dump and borrow a welder from a friend. Really low budget wirefeed.
This is what I did.
It held the roughly 400 miles home:eek:With the truck on the trailer.
Phil
PS Yes those are fence posts.
