I am building my first Land Cruiser ('72 FJ40) and need to ask a few questions concerning the transfer case.
So far I have collected a Ramjet 350, Th-400, and advance adapters Th-400 to 4-speed FJ40 transfer case adapter.
I have my name on the waiting list at Advanced Adapters for the new "Orion" gear set and cast iron case due for delivery this summer.
I do NOT currently have a 4-speed transfer case and have been told by AA that the Orion kit only comes with the gear set and cast iron case and nothing else.
Since I have the adapter kit, I have the necessary 16 spline input shaft assembly.
What else will I have to collect to make this a complete transfer case?
Does anyone out there have a parts diagram depicting the remaining parts that I will need?
I have read that it is wise to upgrade to the 27 spline output shaft while I am doing this conversion.
Finally, I also need to know if I can retrofit a vacuum shifter to the 4-speed transfer case? I think they came fitted on the earlier models with the 10 spline output.
I would greatly appreciate any light that anyone could shed on these questions.
Cheers,
Steven Moore
