Ok, other then poor driving, does anyone feel that tires get cut down more the older they get?

The 2-3 trips a month that I take, I always cut a tire down and chose SX's because of the sidewall strength but it seems that's all I do is cut down tires and while some are my fault others aren't.....just curious, and yes I plug then fix when I get home with a patch.....thank god for hummer rims....

One trip and I groved mine.

All I did was split the center lugs..

If you have the road hazard on them, groving will void the warrenty.

Piazza... for some reason his is using the term "cut down" to refer to TEARING A HOLE in a tire. ;)

How much pressure are you running when tearing them open, and what size tires are you running?

yes...puncture not groove or sipe....I run 5 psi 38.5 by 14.5 on 16.5 and yes I'm going lower in the rear to about 3 psi...these are mounted with hummer style beadlocks and are older tires with siped center section....

Punctures in sidewall or tread? How OLD is "old" - are they starting to dry rot a tiny bit? How many have you torn up?

"cut down " must be an out west sharp rock term we use it evey time we "cut down "a side wall, tread to rim . new mexico and arizona have rocks you can shave with. sx is the only way to go in that type of rock.

My SX's are chunking on the outer lugs from rocks, and i`ve put a couple gashes in the side wall below the sidelugs...

lets say 2 years...they do show a little bit of dry rot and that is why I ask the question but very minor at the rim outer bead that could be done when the tire was flat...not any std crazing or cracking....that's what everyone says but a cut is a cut and no fun when you have three or four to fix....
