ok

as most of you know i have been having problems with my rig running crappy and running really rich with a foul odor.

i thought it was a clogged cat and or muffler so i decided to replace that.

i just got done installing a new down pipe, muffler, cat and tailpipe and it still runs rich. i even tried throwing a spare 02 sensor i had in there and that didnt help at all

the timing on this is NOT adjustable so i am kinda out of ideas

anyone?

i wanna try to fix this ASAP so i dont ruin the new cat

Bench test the injectors make sure they are not dripping or dumping fuel. Check fuel pressure make sure it is not to high which could be caused by a poor regulator or resticted return line...

Have you checked the codes? If not do so..

Man......... I guess I dont type fast enough. That was my exact thought, MAP sensor.

2.5L's dont have MAP sensors i dont thing

Though I know you have a YJ, TJs have two 02 sensors...above and below the catalytic converter. Does your YJ maybe have two 02 sensors too? If so, maybe the other 02 sensor is the culprit. Overly rich conditions just always get me thinking 02 sensor though I realize you already replaced one.

I broke down and brought it to the dealer so they can just plug it into their puter. I hate doing this and i hope they tell me whats wrong, so i can fix it once and for all

I had the exact same problem a few weeks back. It turns out in my case it was the vacuum line running to the MAP sensor. It got cooked on the bellhousing and I didn't notice the fried hose since it was burned on the underside. Looked fine from the top. Something to check out. A piece of fuel line makes a great fix since the dealer wants $25 for them.

Just got back from the dealer. Their computer said it was a bad ISA Sensor (Idle Speed Acuator) and they wanted $340 to replace it. I bought the part for $115 and replaced it myself and it seems to be running MUCH better now with no hesitation at low RPM's. There is a slight amount of black smoke but i am hoping that is because of the remaining carbon buildup that will clean itself out soon.

I hope this is the fix

Mine did that after I replaced the vacuum line to the MAP. I started it up and watched as black smoke shot out the pipe. ARRRGGGGH! After a few minutes it lessened and after a day or so it blew the rest of the carbon out of there. Nothing to worry about.
