Got a 9 inch in the back of my seven, 360 under the hood, and a D30 up front on 36x14.50's. I know the waggy narrow front 44 pumpkin is a little too in the way of where the springs need to be.
Does anybody know if the scout 2 44's fit into a seven better?
A Scout II axle is just about the worst candidate for a D44 swap out there. Unless you want to run D30 outers. I narrowed a waggy D44 and used the Ford rotors for 5 on 5.5 bolt circle. It was really easy. The thing with the Scout axle is the steering geometry is all wrong. The caster and pinion angles are much better on the waggy. My Jeep has never tracked straighter. I don't even use a steering stabilizer, because there's no need.
Have you been here?

Here's where I got the "basics" of how to do it. I'll PM you with my E-mail. Reply and I'll send some pics.
Edit: The waggy has AWESOME steering linkages = BEEFY! I had my steering cut and re-threaded for less than $50

All front 44's are about the same between the perches, if that's what you're asking. You have to outboard your springs or cut down the long side.
Next time search. This has been covered 100 times.:flipoff2:

I somewhat agree. The outers of the Scout II are VERY MUCH weaker than the internally splined hubs/rotors. The Scout II steering is by far weaker. But, (here's where I disagree) the Scout II axle housing has really bad angles as opposed to the waggy. Also, tubing thickness varies from different vehicle axles.

so the scout caster is off, big deal. grind the welds and turn the knuckles to the correct caster. or get a waggy axle and shorten. eather way you are doing some welding. you will have to out board the springs and you will have to change the outers if you want 5on5.5 (you should ditch the scout outers as they are weak)
search on any of the above and you will have way more info than you need :D

First of all, what 9" do you have in the back? An Early Bronco 9" is 58.5" wide, so narrowing a 60"-ish Waggy or Scout front the 4" or so to avoid outboarding the springs is out of the question, if you don't want to outboard, start with a Chevy or Dodge housing and narrow that, otherwise, outboard and run the Waggy axle.

Don't see where you disagree, since I did'nt say anything about any of that.
