: Ok guys, help with a weird computer problem.
Josh83 06-01-2003, 05:20 PM My address bar is gone in IE. I restarted my computer, and when it came back on, the addy bar was nowhere to be found. I went to view:toolbars and the address bar thing still has a check next too it. I also now have all my buttons on one line. I have a button that says "Address" but when I click it nothing happens. What happened?
killingthemonkey 06-01-2003, 05:24 PM Click the 'View' menu. Go down to 'Toolbars'. Then a sub-menu should pop out. Click 'Address Bar'.

Didnt read the fawkin post did ya, he already did that..:flipoff2:
Try view, toolbar, unlock toolbar. Then try moving stuff around. I played with it to see if that was what you were talking about, and it looks like just what you were describing.
Ya might also try customize toolbar, and reset it.
killingthemonkey 06-01-2003, 05:39 PM OK, didnt read it close enough. Uncheck it, and recheck it again. If that doesn't work. Uncheck, restart, recheck. If that doesn't work, click 'Start' Click 'Run' In the run line type http://www.microsoft.com, click OK.
Once the page opens go to downloads and get the lates update for IE. Run the patch and see if the bar comes back.
This doesnt work and you are looking at reinstalling Windows.
killingthemonkey 06-01-2003, 05:41 PM Before the download thing, try putting your pointer on the bottom edge of the toolbar you have. It should turn into an arrow pointing both up and down. Click, hold and drag the mouse down. This should expand the toolbar. Make sure the toolbar is unlocked.

This was what fixed it. Thanks guys. Any idea why the toolbars would go all skitzo for no reason?
killingthemonkey 06-01-2003, 05:45 PM Installed any software?
kwrangln 06-01-2003, 05:47 PM Hey, that was my idea:rolleyes: .
Let me have just this one lil victory, I know just enough computer stuff to be a danger to myself and my computer, giving someone advice on how to fix one is something I never thought I'd be doing.
Last time mine crashed I spend half the day on the phone with tech help and a 12 pack, just to reinstall windows:eek: . Give me something I can fix with a welder and hammer any day.

Nope. I think some spyware has found its way onto my machine somehow though...I have been getting a shit load of popups lately. I was planning to take care of that tonight.
killingthemonkey 06-01-2003, 05:52 PM My recommendation there is go download Ad-Aware and install it. It takes care of that sort of thing. Scans your registry and files for known ad and spyware. Even finds your cookies. Make sure you post how many items are found.

Yeah definitely run Ad-Aware. Last time I ran it, it caught something like 80-something files
Josh83 06-01-2003, 06:06 PM Just ran Ad-Aware...124 new components found.
