On my 87 YJ, wiring in the new motor, but there are a couple of wires I can't figure out, I searched, and read a haynes, but still no help. There are four heavy guage wire that come from the cowl plug from fusebox, they have a fusible link on them, two are solid red, got them, but there is a red/wht sriped and a black that I can't figure out, anyone know what they are? Thanks.

I don't know about the YJ to assist your actual question - but I will say next time you go to the toilet - take the haynes with you as the pages are nice & soft & that's about all they are good for....
There are sooo many errors in the Haynes - esp with electrical I'm not surprised you've having probs......invest in a FSM....

If i remember correctly they are hot with the ignition in the run position. I don't know exactly were they terminated though.

i doing the same thing to my 87yj, they feed different spots to the fuse panel, not sure which ones but thats where they go. guess it's cheaper too run 4 small wires than 1 biggen:eek: i pulled the harness out of the jeep, cut out every wire that went to a sensor(execpt the water temp, oil) so far , going good. i'm dropping in a amc 360/tf727/208 from a j10:D
