Hey guys, i bummed a trailer this weekend to tow the heep. Well Saturday night i turned the lights on and boom, the dash lights and parking lights dont work. Headlights, turn signals, brake lights are fine.
So i find the blown fuse and replace it. The parking and dash lights still wont work. I know there is a short in the trailer to cause this.
Why wont my lights work after the trailer is disconnected and the fuse is replaced? None of the under hood fuses are blown, just the one in the dash for the parking lamps.
Any clues?
Thanks:D

I had rented a U-haul trailer one day for a move and something with there wiring fried a fuse and Relay in my 2002 Dodge Ram.
I had to take it to the dealer for them to find out where the prob was. I did the same as you, everything under hood and dash looked fine..

Also check the possibility of a burnt up headlight switch if the truck lights still don't work with the trailer unhooked.

well i checked the relays under the hood. they seem to be fine. I took one out of a circuit i knew was working correctly and swapped in all the other plugs. Still no parking lights.
headlights work fine, would the head light switch allow the head lights to work without parking or dash lamps?
Are there any relays in the dash??? i crawled under it & couldnt see any??????

Jacob, the ohio guys stayed at songer, sat night. everyone else bailed. Lorne & i grabbed a room at the best western. i was a 3rd wheel since he had his woman.
i came home sunday morning, i was fed up and said screw it.

I should of asked where the relay was on my 2002 because this is eaxactly the same kind of thing that happened. I had even asked a Dodge Mechanic friend of mine and he said this is a fairly common problem..
Maybe call up Dodge and ask to speak to a service tech, or try the guys at http://www.turbodieselregister.com
If you can't find anything out by end of today post again, and I'll ask my buddy tonight..

I spent most of the evening messing with the truck. Still no lights. I swapped fuses & replays all evening and still nothing.
I am searching various other web sites for info now.
ahhhh this is frustrating:mad:

Get behind the switch and bridge one leg to the other and see if they come on

I had the same problem with my 97' and a rented U-Haul trailer that shorted out. I had to replace the big 40amp fuses under the hood and a few fuses in the fuse box in the cab. It took me a while to track down all the fuses and what they were for. Remember, just because a fuse looks good does not nessarly mean it is good.
