I was wondering which locker would be good for the front of my 77 stepside? It sees the off raod alot but is also on road alot. Is there an easy locker to install that I can install myself in my garage? I'm pretty good with wrenches but have never installed a locker myself. Which ones can be installed at home easily and would be good for lighter off road applications? As I said it is a full size so it isn't like I'll be in the sluice with it any time soon!
thanks,
Jeff :usa:

If you have the smaller axles and U-Joints in that Dana I would stay away from a lockright type unit....These little u-joints do not hold up at all in a turn with big tires.. I learned this one first hand.
You can replace them with the 3/4 ton axles and beef that area up quite a bit.
I've been told to use a posi of some type, Detroit True track for example.
A buddy of mine has Detroit locker out back and a posi up front and loves the set up... Good for crawling some but still gives a little when it needs to so you don't break things..
