I tried a search and didn't get the info I am looking for, so give me a break and help me out here guys! I've got all the material now to do the coil setup on my sammurai, but I am questioning how long to make the upper and lower links and what would be the best way to make the coil buckets. Someone told me 36 inch lowers and 28-30 inch uppers would be a good set up, but I am thinking 48 inch lowers and close to the same for the uppers. What do you guys suggest in length and should both the uppers and lowers be the same length or not? Oh yeah I am using QA1 14 inch coils and was wondering what is the best and easiest way to make the coil mounts? Thanks alot for any help.

48" lowers on a Samurai  Between the front rear that's 8'. What's the wheelbase on Sammy's??
36" Lowers sounds more reasonable, but even that might be too long.

Gonna have a 95-100 inch wheelbase, so it will be fine. I just want to know if having the links that long will give me added benefit or not.

My uppers and lowers are all 45" long, but that is on a YJ, and my wheelbase is about 106". I used a 6 inch precut circle (from my local metal store) and a 1 1/8" inch peice of allthread for the mounts.

Okay, so 45 inch links would be fine with me, but as far as the coil mounts go did you weld the 6 inch circle to a spring perch or straight to the axle and what is the and how did you secure the spring to the mount, I am a little confused what you used the all thread for?

Does anyone else have any input or suggestions for the length and placement of the links? I need to know and dont have anyone around here that I can ask about the coil set up. I know you guys can help out:confused: I'm gonna go get some  and wait for some help!

what I've seen for a good coil mount is a peice of round plate a little bigger then the spring and then 2 U-bolts 180* apart that go over the spring and through the plate

Yeah, thats what I have been planning on doing, but I had just wondered if anyone had a better way of making the mounts.

I don't think I would weld the coil plate to the axle. I would weld it to a piece of square tubing with the radius of your axle tube cut on the other side so you get alot more welding points.
