Rock Crawling Nationals held 4x4 Mecca of the Nation
Riverton, Utah, June 6-The Rock Crawlers Association of America (RCAA) took to the red rock fins of Moab Utah. The internationally known 4x4 Mecca hosted the second event of the Goodyear/Skyjacker Extreme Rock crawling Nationals.
Seventy of the worlds best drivers, spotters and vehicles had it out in a two day competition now dubbed the worlds toughest rock-crawling competition in the history of the sport. The Moab competition was such a success, that nearly eight million viewers in dozens of markets from around the nation ranging from New York to Los Angeles tuned in for footage and details of the Moab event. It was viewed in markets around the world such as Australia and other countries.
Despite the hot whether, fierce competition, and some of nature’s toughest terrain known to rock crawlers, Jon Bundrant and Larry McRae finished in first place in the super modified class taking home a check for $7,000. Team Garret Sisson and Matt Sisson finished with a first place win in the modified stock class taking home a handsome amount of $3500.
Looking ahead, Cedar City is the next stop in the Goodyear/Skyjacker Extreme Rock crawling Nationals tour. RCAA held the first ever National Rock Crawling competition in Cedar City back in 2000. Since then, Cedar has become a Mecca for competitive rockcrawling in the United States. The RCAA Cedar City events have been held in July during the Shakespearian Festival for the past three years with crowds swelling close to twenty thousand. The fans come from as far as Florida for the spectacular combination of man and machine and skill and finesse. Expect even bigger crowds this season and more rock crawling action.
RCAA raised the bar in Moab when they introduced fuel and fire for the commentating. RCAA pulled the perfect team from both the West Coast and the East Coast to bring variety to the event and the team was a hit. Expect more “Fuel & Fire” in Cedar.
