My winch broke on my trailer yesterday pulling up my brothers 2000lb car! I have only used it a few times once on my 5500lb tow vehicle. It is a 3500 lb Superwinch. Are these things weak or what. It sounds like the pinion to drum gear is loosing teeth!
I took the plastic cover off but there's not much under there but the motor and two solenoids. Can the gears be accessed and are they replaceable or to I need to find a new winch. I think I paid like $375 or so for this one. So its cost me like $125 for the three times I've needed to winch a car/truck onto the trailer. :(

So I took another look at the winch today...I took it off the trailer last night but it was to dark to see much. Today I see a sticker that says the warrantee is void if broken so I can not take this thing apart. I don't even know if this winch is under warrantee or not. Has anyone had any luck with replacement parts for Superwinches--I think I should have bought the more expensive Warn but I thought this would work ok on the trailer!
