I just bought a 85 1 ton 4x4 chevy and it has a dually rearend.I got it just for parts. But I need to know if the rearend is a dana 60 or 70.It has the same bolt pattern as a 60 but the axels tubes are bigger then the 60 on the front.I know the front is a 60 and I know the rear is not a 14 bolt.I can`t find anyone around here that can tell me for sure what I have .Some say the bigger tubes mean it`s a 70.Anyone have any ideas thanks.

Try to get the "bill of materials" code pff the tubes.....you can always get the ring gear codes and cross refrence them..

Is there no stamp on the botom right of the diff?
Usually should be stamped on the flange that heads from the diff to the tube diagnally 60,70,44 etc.
Wire brush and take a look.

In the rear of a 1ton it would be a 70 if it is indeed a dana. If the number is not in the webbing on the right rear lower corner of th diff look on the front above the pinion it is sometimes cast in there.
