The three taper locks are jammed in and don't want to come out.

I had the same problem a few months ago. Soak it with PB blaster or Kroil and let it sit for a few hours. Then beat on the arm from all directions to help loosen everything up. You can stick a screwdriver in the crack of the conical washers and get them to turn which usually does the trick. Soaking is the key though.

Me too, had the same problem.

And I have to agree, soak it, then beat it.

Had a HUGE guy at work beat the thing with a full sized sledge for quite some time, finally the things popped. (This was after I beat on it for almost an hour...I must've loosened it for him :) )
