Pugest Sound FREE Obstacle Course July 4, 2003

On July 4th, 2003 the Faith Wheelers offroad club is sponsoring a free 4x4 obstacle course. We are offering 3 separate tracks, one with a minimum requirment of 33" tires and dual lockers, or 35" tires with a single locker, and solid tow hooks. The second is built more for short wheel base rigs and smaller rigs. The last is a Trail 101 course for the beginner and/or completely stock rig.

Each of the courses will have a mud bog, off camber curves, log crossings, log bridges, rock piles or gardens, ditches, holes, tight corners, mogules and whatever else we can stick in there.

Actually, the course is located Just south of Graham, on Cranberry lake.

Fromthere you could head across to Highway 3 or take the Narrow bridge to hit the Oplymia Peninsula up towards Port Angeles.

We are getting a pretty good list of sponsors. 4 Wheel Parts, Allpro offroad, Edgewood National, pullpal. Weld Racing, Optima Batteries, Warn and some others just about to come online!

We're going to have a pretty good prize table and we're offering a free raffle ticket to everyone who preregisters. Preregistration is free and it helps up plan for the number of vehicles and people better, as well as get information out to them. It also speeds up event day registration, making it easier and faster on everyone.

It's come to my attention that this event is being held at our church and is a "church" event. It is not. Our club is a Christian Off-Road club and our church is sponsoring the event, but it's a 4x4 event, not a church event.

You'll hear some contemporary Christian Music, and get a touch card, but mostly, you'll get some great family safe 4x4 fun. The event location is a 240 farm with directions on our website.

We got the courses finished up today, what a hoot they are. EVERYONE who ran them had a blast. The tuff truck course is TUFF. I had to be pulled out of the tank traps and an Fj40 with dual lockers and 35's didn't even try the trank traps or the rock pile!

On the mild to moderate course, everyone got through but the stock Ford Bronco had to bypass the mogules and the hill climb due to clearance concerns. EVERYONE, yes EVERYONE got slowed down at at least one section and had to choose different lines, a little more go pedal or something, at at least one spot! The hill climb here is going to be the crowd please. A steep decline right back up to a short but steep and slippery incline will challenge everyone, but it's very doable. SWB rigs definitely have an advantage but a stock Tacoma made it, after a few tries...

I continue to encourage pre-registration as we keep hearing more and more about people who want to come out. Don't be left watching when you want to be playing!

I've had some people ask about trail ratings on the courses.

Trail 101 would be 1-2/5.
The mild to moderate course is all 2-4/5.
The Tuff Truck course is pretty much 4+ and higher. The major difference between this and a 4+ or 5 trail is the risk of body damage. Since we're not sqeezing through rock ledges, tree stumps or root balls sticking out just looking for you doors, the risk of body damage is lower.

On the Tuff Truck course there will be a signficant risk of mechanical damage to rigs that are recklessly driven or poorly maintained.
