: I just got clipped!
scwafish 11-24-2001, 09:08 PM Went up to Washington State for "Chicken Day" and picked up my new tube clip from Rich @ xtreme4x in Auburn, WA. Threw it in the boat (BTW I couldnt eat another crab for at least a month!) to get it home, and slapped it on tonight just to get an idea of how its gonna look.
I worked with Rich to redesign his "bolt-on" model to use dune buggy headlight buckets so I could keep regular old 7" sealed beams (stock wiring, hi beams etc.) and so it would clear my winch. He was super nice and did a GREAT job. Heres a couple of crappy pics, I'll take more when the hood is bolted down and its not rainy and dark.
Heres one from the side...
scwafish 11-24-2001, 09:09 PM Heres one fro the front....
nice thats whats what I'm looking at building tube front end and just the hood.:smokin:

How do the doors mount??
I thought about doing this to mine...but not sure on the design up to the doors yet...still want my doors on in the winter...
scwafish 11-24-2001, 09:45 PM You take off the fenders and bolt this thing on at the front (on the two "towers") and at the front of the tub where the fenders bolt on. The door mounts are totally unaffected, and not part of how it mounts.
bobaki 11-24-2001, 09:59 PM doors good ,like doors, ect:D
fatkid 11-24-2001, 10:09 PM Looks good, what's it made of? Where does it mount, and can it take a hit? How much did it cost?:)

Yeah how much??,
are you going to do anything for inner fenders??
I have quite a bit of stuff mounted to mine!
scwafish 11-25-2001, 08:19 AM Fatty-Its made out of 1.75 (.120). Tried to get him to make it out of .500 though;) . While it only mounts to 4 points they are tough, they had their burgandy buggy there, fresh off a couple or cartwheels at the NWRCA comp, and the clip was dinged but not bent. You could easily tie it ito the lower door bolts (and still run doors) and it would be even beefier.
The clip was $treefiddy. Lots of subtle bends around the hood to make it look nice. It is all setup to use the stock hood latch, release spring etc. It has inner hoops that they mount their shocks to. All in all a pretty cool product.
Rude-I dont think I'll do any inner fenders, but I will need to find a home for a few things myself. The way this thing mounts is really simple and doesnt require messing with the stock mounts, so I'm hoping to run my old clip in the winter when I have the top on, and this clip in topless wheeling season, but we'll see. I dont know how much winter action this rig will really see.
mud-magnet 11-25-2001, 08:58 AM if there 35"s, then you should get a set of 37-38"s.......
:flipoff2:
