I take it the CJ7 seat is narrower than the SII seats, and it'll still fit between your modified wheel wells?

How much narrower? :D

The girlfriend came to visit. The only wrenching I got done was to top off my brake fluid (got a recently developed slow leak), and tightened a shackle bolt.

Twas a good weekend. Friday wheeled into Ellis for the Walker Hill work party. Monkeyboy and Mom cruised in about 3 AM and left the lights pointing into the back of the Scout to wake my arse up.

The Holley system needs some work at altitude. The closed loop could not adjust enough for the altitude, even taking it out of CL and adjusting I could not get it right. I was dumping way too much fuel burned 20 gallons from Pollock pines to the box and back to P-pines. I usually use about half that.

Saturday morning we did the work on Walker. See the Rubicon forum.

Saturday evening I ran the box and was denied. Flipped a front shackle (re-arched the springs for me :D ) and pulled the front d-line out far enough to split the end of slip yoke. Winched out of the box and back to camp.

Sunday we headed home. On the highway I noticed the rear d-line is tweaked (most likely from sitting on it in the box) and I lost the seal between the 727 and 300. I may have cracked the adapter don't know at this time.

Here are some pics of my attempt in the box:

Nice and stable with the wider axles, I don't know if you could go this far over on stock width axles

Where Mark (black pants) is standing is where I was denied. Just did not have enough tire to make it up the last rock. I guess it is time for 38's :D

I worked on Michelle's 800 "Oscar" this weekend.

Replaced the scary 35yr old steering..

The Death Wobble was just too bad to be allowed to continue, and the SII axle swap (and my 1T swap) are still aways off..

THEN I took my new-to-me-free 31x10.50s on 6-hole wheels in and had 'em mounted on some SII chrome wheels (that need cleaned up, badly).. she lost the aluminum directionals and Mickeys, but picked up the chrome wheels and radials.. it tracks SOOO much better now, and these tires actually have some hummm to 'em.

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/gallery/albums/albun51/DCP_0008.sized.jpg

Then drove it out to our house (from the shop) and proceeded to pull the top on Sunday and put the bikini on.

Still haven't managed to talk the hinges into releasing the pins though. :(

http://tigger.tmcom.com/~tsm1/gallery/albums/albun51/DCP_0016.sized.jpg

Naturally, it rained last night, since we pulled the top.. :D

Cruised back into town and did a little shopping.. Oscar's getting a new CB and antenna, bought some blocks to put the top on, a new fuse panel and assorted gizmos..

Oh.. did do one thing for me this weekend.. visited the junkyard to look at a new 1010 T'all they had, with a supposedly nice running 392..

Didn't buy it, but I did grab a Taurus fan from a 3.8 to use on my Travelette when I put the new 392 in.

With the '74/75 engine setback, I'll have enough room to run my mechanical clutched fan AND the Taurus electric. :D

Yeah, that's the same spot that was giving me trouble with my 36's and the 14 bolt rear... Looks way different this year.

Scratched my right eyeball Friday. With my safety glasses no less Spent Saturday and Sunday in a darkroom being miserable as hell. But before that incident happened I did get some more crap done. The dual battery tray is now recessed into the fender well an inch. The power steering gear box is installed. Had to rob the shaft off the donor T-all, to get it to bolt up. Then this morning I finished getting the 392 prepped to throw into my T-all. But the trans. sure did give me some fits. Took me about 2 hours to wrestle that sucker on. Now the 392 sits in it's new home. Sittin the engine in went alot smoother that I expected. Now it's just a matter of connecting everything back on. Not bad for being 3/4 blind. :D

Tell me about it ~ I when I was working on Snoopy's 2-link system I watched a glowing chunk of metal fall from the frame .... it seemed to go RIGHT THROUGH the saftey goggles and seemed to miss my glasses as well and fell right into the inside corner of my eye ~ Since I watched it happen, I shut my eye (reflex) and got a nasty burn on the outer layer of my eye lid.

the funky thing was that I was wearing googles (no not glasses, I wear those...so I was wearing the 'lab' style goggles).

Got the dang Scout driveable finally---just need rear shocks and I am ready to wheel. Sure is nice to have the option of going out to wheel after months of staring and scratching my head wishing the shop gremlins would just get to work.

TWC---be glad you didn't have to have the doc drill rust out of your eye and, in my opinion, cause more damage to your eye than the steel. Ever had someone say "Now be still" as they approach your eye with a frigging drill????!!!! I now have 20/80 vision in one eye because of scar tissue from the drilling. The steel got in my eye even with saftey glasses!! Sucks

the jeep seat is only 35" wide, gives me about 2" on either side of seat. also the jeep seat weighs a lot less than the heavy scout seat, every little bit helps when shaving weight off these pigs

A scout on a diet, now there is an oxymoron, I guess that is better than my way of thinking

"damn thing already weighs 6000 lbs...might as well make my floors and wheel wells out of 3/8" steel...." ;)
