Now on to the point... What have you all used to cover the raw edge of sheet metal.. Looks aint important, but I'd prefer to not slice and dice body parts on the edges.. Like in the field replacing an axle, tire what ever.

So, what, where did you get it. Does it come in pink?

just get a sandpaper tip or sumthin and smooth it out. thats all i did. i have some wheel of paper thats like layered..it looks like lizard skin or sumthin..but regular sandpaper wheel will do it!

Ya well I took the 4.5" grinder with sander disk to it.. so it's not deathly sharp, but I'd still like to but something over the edge.. Maybe just some 1/4 in vac line split......

try tacking in some 1/4" round bar stock along the edge.
It will add support for your "hack-job", as well as provide
the nurse's at the hospital with less trouble than as if you
didn't use the 1/4" solid round stock to cover your work.

PS, 1/4" vac tube won't stay on very long....

Look at the Eastwood Company site. They have a tool that will put a roll on the edge.:skull:

you could also put some of the plastic edge gaurd trim that new cars have along the oor edges. the guy who cut my fenders put some of that edge cover stuff on and glued it inplace so that it will not come off.

Yeah Ox that's kinda what I've been looking for. Where did you get it?

I always cut about 3/4 of an inch long and take a pair of channel locks and bend a new lip in to helpp get some strength back and to make it look finished. Once I have a littl bit of a bend I complete it by tapping with a 2lb sledge. Works pretty good.

I'm pretty sure that you can get the door edge stuff at any AutoZone, Advance Auto, etc. Gonna have to glue the shit out of it to keep it on I'd bet.

they sell the 3M brand door edge that has glue on the inside. 50 feet for $18. I used it on my XJ when I hacked and I am very happy with the results. I will not be going back to running flares unless I buy some wider axles.
