No.
You have to put it on & hook up all the wiring before it will work.:flipoff2:

Are you asking if an 8k winch is enough?
That depends if it's a good 8k... if its 8274 your fine.

seriously.. since you've been a good boy and lurked here for a couple years with out posting much dribble...

it depends..
if you wheel in alot of mud, you want some thing rated for 2x the wight of your rig...
otherwise 1.5x the weight of your rig is ok.

of course you can run a snatch block or two, or three... but it cuts down the speed..

my take on it.. if ya allready got it, and it works, put it on. any winch is better than no winch...

You still didn't say what 8000lb winch you have.
I ran a Warn M-8000 for a couple years. Works fine but a tad slow. Even competed with it. If it's just for casual wheelin I say mount it and use it.:)

Once you use an 8274, everything is slow:D I have a PTO winch on my scout 80. That is one slow fawker, but keep the truck running and it will run a comperable Warn electric into the ground.

Yeah...until....

You poop a seal or a leak...then there goes the POWER man! That is what is currently wrong with mine.

I thought:rolleyes: that it was boiling and only boiling over the fluid, and that was the cause of my dilema's...Nope boiling and pissing out the front!

WOOOOOHOOOOO.

Sell the 8000 if it's a lowprofile warn that looks like this one.

Mike Izzy won the 9000lb version at HDR a while back. I've seen it in action, it works but it really strains on a straight pull with the v8 scouts. Look for one that looks like the one below.

http://products.warn.com/warn.nsf/pages/TruckProducts.Winches.winchM8274.html/$file/M8274-50.jpg

This is the 8274, they are strong and this is what we used on surprise canyon. Mike has an old 6000lb model which got him through the canyon with no hiccups - he also had a v8 800 w/44fr 60rr

Brand new they are $$$ but they can be found used in great shape for $500.

 and dont buy the cheap winches either. I broke a buddies 8000 pound no name brand with out even being in a bind. Thing was a pos. For a scout at least 9000 lbs :D
