Funny you say that... I have three FJ60 long sides that twisted off, all run ARB or welded, what do you run?

:D i have broke 3 short sides this is the first long side i have broke .i have had trouble on the long side snaping off the c clip ring when it did that i just heated the tip till it got red hot then i welded two washers together on the end and the grinded them down till they would fit through the side gears .after that you have to grind them down to where you can get the center block back in one washer just isnt thick enough.the reason i did that is that the axel is still good. still dont know the reason for them to break off.maybe a bent housing:confused:

Yeah, I was just reading it slowly and taking it all in.

COME AWWN what did I say I have forgotten. Did I say cruiser axles are good? Or was it my semi floater vs full floater? see it broke in the smallest part of the axle! ALL the stress from that axle is put right on that necked down section and BOOM, if it was along the whole length of the axle it would share the load and absorb more shock.

Don't tell me you are running soft leaves and a wrap bar? :D That chit suspension aids axle and piniion carnage.

Whatever I said I am sure I was wrong :( :flipoff2:

(In my personal opinion the full floater would be marginally stronger in this situation) Although a good 14 bolt, or D60 is the BOMB!!!

I agree, they always break at the neck down part... and better than that... with a FF, you can still drive it home. Not with the SF, plan on pulling the Plan on taking out the other shaft so you can pound the broken peice out.. then putting in a good one an hoping it did no damage to your carrier.

If it twists off like the above one it can get messy. But if it breaks clean like the other one, then you can just drive around.
