So I have this great york OBA setup I installed and now I have a belt whine that is killing me when the rpms hit 2700 plus.

I am running a 17/32 wide belt which I think is the problem. Anyone sucessfully running a wide LC width belt on their york setup?

It looks like the belt would ride really high on the pulley.

I have never used "belt dressing" will this quiet the belt? Never sure why belts needed dressing as I have never used the stuff.

Thanks

I was wondering whether there was a way to get either an extra wide pulley, or somehow modify the smog pump pulley to accept the clutch..... same q, just a different angle.

I haven't actually seen the clutch for the york, so I don't know if it can bolt behind the pulley, or if it's integrated into the center.

I used a York from an 80's something Volvo with the wide pulley. Yes, the cruiser belt rides a little high but not too bad. No noise at all. If you are using the narrow belt, most likely the belt is slipping at the cruiser pulley on the crankshaft. You can check by looking to see if the bottom of the pulley groove has a polished look to it.

don't mess w/ belt dressing try a little ATF on the belts. that stuff is the best belt dressing around.
